How we approached it
Large-format tile punishes a sloppy layout: every cut shows. We dry-laid the whole room first and set the control line off the shower entry rather than the longest wall, so the most-seen sight line got the full tiles.
The shower pan was rebuilt from the slab up with a bonded waterproofing membrane and flood-tested overnight before any tile was set. The niche was sized to a whole tile module so it needed no filler cuts.
Outside corners are mitred rather than trimmed with metal edging — slower, but it keeps the stone-look pattern running around the return instead of stopping at a bright line.

A bath where the grout joints line up from floor to niche to shower curb, with mitred corners and a flood-tested pan behind the finish.
