How we approached it
The owners had lived with porcelain tile throughout the sleeping wing for eleven years and were tired of the echo. We brought eight wool-blend plush samples on site at dusk, when the bedrooms actually get used, so the color was judged in lamplight rather than showroom fluorescents.
Because Port Royal slabs sit close to the water table, we moisture-tested the concrete before ordering pad. Readings came back in range, so we specified an 8lb rebond pad — enough cushion to feel luxurious underfoot without letting seams telegraph over time.
Installation ran two days. Our own crew moved and reset every piece of furniture, cut the closets as continuous runs to keep seams out of the walk-path, and finished each doorway with a flush metal transition into the existing tile.
The result
Four bedrooms that read as one calm suite, with seams invisible under the room's own light and no transition lip to catch a bare toe.
